About Our Chapter

Who We Are

The Merlin Chapter is an autonomous (Chapter) or group of Freemasons with a passion for motorcycling in the Province of Derbyshire, we are totally separate but associated with the Masonic Province of Derbyshire. With our own Constitutions and by-laws running along side UGLE guidelines. We are part of a wider community of Widows Sons and Freemasons spread across England, Wales & N. Ireland and indeed the rest of the world. Merlin Chapter emerged from the split up of the East Midlands Chapter in April 2023, starting with 12 members, we now have 32 members and 17 associates. Our membership comes from a wide range of professions from Student to Surgeon, Builder to Biker and every thing in-between.

What We Do

Our activities include ride outs (usually in aid of local charities and good causes), rallies (including the Widows Sons MBA National Rally) and supporting our members in Craft and HRA. We meet for our ride-outs or breakfasts on the 3rd Sunday in the month at various locations, we also have a monthly natter night again at various locations across the Province, often hosted by a member as a BBQ.

Why Join Us?

So if you’re a Derbyshire Freemason, own a motorcycle and have a sense of humour, we’d love to hear from you. Likewise, if your lodge is looking for a presentation, with a bit of a difference, or is holding a social event were you’d like us to come along and support you, then please make contact, we’d be more than happy to help if we can. Many of our members are long standing members of Craft and HRA and have a vast knowledge of ritual so if your Lodge needs a specific peice of work, please get in touch, maybe we can help out.
